Case teaching is a teaching method in which the teacher uses case analysis (case study) to guide lessons.
Case analysis involves the study of a specific case, usually based on a real situation, phenomenon or problem. The case is described in detail and forms the basis for analysis, discussion and inference. This tool allows the practical application of theory to real situations and the development of analysis, critical thinking and decision-making skills. As a rule, cases are analyzed in class with the academic teacher.
The case study is most often used after the presentation of the theoretical part and is used to verify knowledge and show students how to apply knowledge in practice.
The analyzed case should be real, related to the subject of the class. It should be accurately described and contain relevant information about the context, problems and decisions to be made. It may also include documents, data or other materials to be used in the analysis.
The advantage of the case study method is the active participation of students in the search for a solution(s). They are encouraged to analyze, discuss, explore alternative scenarios, formulate questions and make decisions based on available information, which contributes to the development of problem-solving skills.
